In the meantime rockchip corrected those bugs and released a new version 2.3 of it's tool (already back in august 2014). I just start this thread because at the moment I think this great new tool is missing the attention it should get In case you're interested I've attached the new tool to this post.

Insert the reader to pc and insert the sdcard to reader. Find SDFirewareTool.exe under SDFirewareTool and click it. See PIC1.
Select the insert sdcard under 'Choose removable disk' Item. See PIC1.

Select 'Upgrade Fireware' (Note:Select only this item). See PIC1. Click 'Firmware' button to choose the image just download and unzip.See PIC1.

Click 'Create' to begin. When complete, there will be a dialog to tell you successPIC1Upgrade with SD card on RR 1. Power off the RR2. Insert the sdcard3. Power on the RR, then the process start,you will see the ui like PIC2.4. Wait for the process complete. This process will take serveral minutes.when upgrade sucessfully.
